A 2% Waning Crescent and Venus
The Moon, which was 2% of full and the Planet Venus were in close approach on the morning of January 10, 2013.  I shot these pictures with my
Canon EOS Rebel Xsi Digital Camera from my home in Neptune, New Jersey.  I used my Canon 75-300mm lens set at 300mm.  Camera was set on
manual.  F-stop was f/5.6. Exposure was for 1 sec.  ISO was 800.  It took a while for the pair to rise to the point of where I could see and photograph
them.  Visually pleasing for the length of time it was visible to the naked eye.
Notice the Earthshine on the dark part of the Moon.  Visible even though the sky is starting to brighten up from a rising Sun.
